Paintings

The act of painting, the translating of an emotion
into a response with the physical quality of
medium being the real subject.
The paintings of places, a history both found
and made. Time and process captured forever
in the surface. A moment held in time where
edges blur and rifits appear. The layering,
the pulling and pushing of the paint to fit a space.
The tone, texture and rtythum conjure up a sublime
painted landscape. Both arresting and poetic we
connect with what we are looking at and into.
The language of image is reminiscent of places
encounted. Light is frequently shadowy,
shifting and fluid. A coming together
and a pulling apart, a rising and a falling of
relationships, the brief moments of clarity
and compromise when sea becomes land,
or land becomes sky.
